			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We had a great success this week with Barista Level 1 &amp; 2 taking place (many thanks to Paul Meikle-Janney). It was the first time Barista Level 2 was run in Ireland and we were delighted to have a full house.</p>
<p>Just a note that there is a change of data on Grinding and Brewing Level1 and Advanced Brewing will now take place on May 31st instead of May 30th (there are a small number of spaces available for both).</p>
<p>These will be the last 2 courses of this years Coffee Diploma, and we will release dates for forthcoming courses in the fall.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>March will be an incredible month for coffee lovers as the “Brew Ha Ha” weekend sees some of the most eagerly awaited coffee events coincide on one big weekend at the Twisted Pepper on Dublin&#8217;s Middle Abbey Street.</p>
<p>Coffee lovers from as far away as Russia, Scandinavia and even Australia convened on Dublin for last year&#8217;s event and this year will be even more equally enticing to coffee enthusiasts everywhere.</p>
<p>First up on the Friday 30<sup>th</sup> March is the Irish Brewers Cup where we seek to find our national representative who will follow up on Keith O&#8217;Sullivan&#8217;s victory at last years World Championships. This event pits some of the countries finest baristas in a battle to find the most skilled filter brewer and promises to be a hotly contested event.</p>
<p>Saturday sees Tamper Tantrum Live return to the stage at the Twisted Pepper in what is one the coffee industry&#8217;s premier education-focused conferences with a unique urban twist.</p>
<p>Last year&#8217;s speakers included World Barista champions, Espresso Machine innovators and Coffee bloggers; tickets sold out in a matter of days. This years line-up is a tight-lipped secret at the moment but is guaranteed to be just as prestigious.</p>
<p>Sunday is a double header with proceedings opening with the Irish Cup Tasters Championships. This event requires participants to spot the odd coffee out of three on eight separate occasions to determine who&#8217;s pallet is the most refined. Irelands representative in the past two years, David Walsh, has gone on to finish second at the World Championships two years running.</p>
<p>Following that is the inaugural Hasbean World Home-Barista Championships, aimed at crowning the finest home-barista there is. Amateur contestants will bring their own equipment and present to a panel of professional judges to determine who will be the first ever Hasbean World Barista Champion.</p>
<p>Entry is free on Friday and Sunday but Saturdays even is a ticket-only affair and can be purchased <span style="color: #ff6600;"><a href="https://www.eventelephant.com/tampertantrumlivedublin2012"><span style="color: #ff6600;">here</span></a></span> for €50 which includes lunch and filter coffees for all attendees.</p>
<p>This is one of the most exciting events on the international coffee calendar and is a unique opportunity for coffee lovers to experience the best of what the specialty coffee industry has to offer.</p>

<p><strong>John Thompson – CoffeeNexus </strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>John has over 16 years of experience in speciality coffee, working on projects from the field through to retail.  His work at origin has spanned several continents. John has worked closely with coffee growers in several countries developing long term relationships, sustainable buying programs, and quality improvement initiatives.  John now trains and consults across the globe through his company Coffee Nexus, primarily on sourcing, sensory and roasting related projects. He has recently worked with the SCAE in developing the Coffee Diploma system, leading the green coffee section of the program, and supporting the Sensory module.</p>

<p><strong>Filip Akerblom – Brasset AB</strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Filip today runs Brasett AB, trading green beans and retailing to Scandinavian micro roasters; Lilla Kafferosteriet AB, a micro roastery and coffee bar in the south of Sweden; and Svenska Specialkaffe Akademin, delivering education for national and international coffee business.<br />
A certified Brewmaster, and an SCAE Authorised Trainer, Filip has  judged in seven Cup of Excellence competitions and was lead author on the curriculum for SCAE’s roasting module.</p>

<p><strong>Paul Stack –Marco Beverage Systems </strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Programme leader of the SCAE Gold Cup, Paul co-authored the Brewing and Grinding and Advanced Brewing modules for the SCAE Coffee Diploma curriculum and has been delivering seminars and workshops throughout Europe for the last five years.</p>

<p>David has lectured widely on all things coffee, been part of World Coffee Events’ machine certification process in 2011 and placed 2<sup>nd</sup> in the World Cup-Tasters Championship in both 2010 and 2011. A certified Brewmaster, David also placed 3<sup>rd</sup> &amp; 2<sup>nd</sup> in the Irish Barista Championships in 2010 and 2011 respectively.</p>

<p>Julia is a vastly experience trainer with over 15 years experience, Julia is a certified Barista Level 2 calibrator and has taught Barista certification all over Ireland for many years.</p>
